The week of August 30th, tune into the National Wild Turkey Federation's "Turkey Call" TV and join COHA in the field as we take advantage of California's first Special Youth Turkey Hunting Weekend. In 2008, COHA worked closely with the NWTF staff, the California Department of Fish and Game and the California Fish and Game Commission to approve a Special Youth Turkey Season that would take place the weekend before the opening of the general turkey season each spring. The inaugural "Youth Turkey Hunting Weekend" took place in March 2009. NWTF "Turkey Call" cameras were on the scene as COHA President Bill Gaines and Joe Johnson took to the field with two young ladies in pursuit of their first gobblers.
